Solar Inverter Integration Guide for PV Genset Controllers

Engineering compatibility guidance for PV–DG control with major on-grid inverter platforms used in Pakistan, including Huawei, Sungrow, Solis, SOFAR, Deye, SAJ, SMA, ABB, Inverex, Growatt, GoodWe and SignEng. Exact model, firmware and control interface are verified before commitment.

Compatibility first

The brand name alone does not confirm controllability

JME confirms integration against the exact inverter model, firmware, communication hardware, protocol document and active-power control method. A product family may contain models with different register maps or external-control capabilities.

Huawei

SmartLogger/plant-controller architecture, permissions and supported active-power commands are verified.

Sungrow

Logger/COM interface, active-power mode and interaction with existing PPC functions are checked.

Solis

Exact model, communication adapter, register map and writable power-limit command are confirmed.

SOFAR

Gateway, firmware, control register availability and external curtailment behavior are verified.

Deye

Model-specific communications and supported active-power control method are checked before integration.

SAJ

Logger/interface, firmware and documented external power-control capability are verified.

SMA

Plant communications, control ownership and supported power-limitation interface are reviewed.

ABB

Exact inverter family, protocol documentation and supported active-power command are confirmed.

Inverex

Exact model and underlying communication/control architecture must be verified before commitment.

Growatt

Data access, command method, firmware and number of controlled inverters are validated.

GoodWe

Plant topology, supported gateway and response behavior for external curtailment are reviewed.

SignEng

Exact model, protocol documentation and writable control interface are verified before engineering.

Compatibility status: brand presence in this engineering guide does not by itself mean every model is universally compatible or that JME has deployed every listed brand. JME confirms the exact model, firmware, gateway/register map and writable active-power interface before quotation. Project-verified integrations are identified only where JME project evidence is available.

Technical checklist

What JME verifies before quotation

  • Exact inverter and data-logger model numbers
  • Firmware versions and site topology
  • Modbus TCP/RTU or vendor gateway availability
  • Writable active-power limitation register or command
  • Units, scaling, valid range and command persistence
  • Readback confirmation and response time
  • Control ownership conflicts with another PPC
  • Fail-safe value after network or controller loss

System integration

The inverter is one part of the control loop

Reliable operation also depends on correctly located meters, generator status, breaker feedback, time synchronization, network design, reserve settings, alarm handling and commissioning tests.

Engineering answers

Frequently asked questions

Does Modbus monitoring mean the inverter can be controlled?

No. Read access does not guarantee that a supported writable active-power command is available.

Can different inverter brands be controlled together?

Potentially, but each interface and response must be engineered and tested. Mixed fleets increase mapping, timing and fail-safe complexity.

Why must firmware be recorded?

Register availability and command behavior can vary across firmware revisions, gateways and regional models.
