Multi-Genset Solar Hybrid Controller and Common-Bus Control

Engineering solar PV coordination for two or more generators, changing online capacity, common-bus operation, load sharing and centralized SCADA.

Multi-generator operation

Solar allowance must follow the generators actually online

A fixed PV limit is rarely adequate for a plant where generators start, stop, synchronize, share load or separate from a common bus. The hybrid controller must know which generator breakers are closed, the available capacity, measured generator loading and the approved reserve.

Online Capacity

Calculates available capacity from verified generator and breaker status.

Load Sharing

Observes total and individual generator loading without disrupting the genset controller’s core functions.

PV Allocation

Adjusts permitted solar output as units join or leave the bus.

Breaker Interlocks

Uses defined electrical states and feedback—not unverified software assumptions.

Mode Management

Separates grid-parallel, genset, transfer and island operating strategies.

Central SCADA

Presents source status, loading, alarms and trends in one operating view.

Required information

Inputs for a reliable control philosophy

  • Generator ratings and minimum-load constraints
  • Genset controller models and register maps
  • Synchronizing and load-sharing arrangement
  • Breaker positions and hardwired permissives
  • Solar inverter models, firmware and commands
  • Meter locations and update rates
  • Load steps, critical loads and shedding priorities
  • Required response during component failure

Project pathway

Phased integration can scale with the plant

JME’s Sazgar work progressed through multiple phases as generators and solar capacity expanded, demonstrating why a future-ready data and control architecture matters.

Engineering answers

Frequently asked questions

Can a hybrid controller synchronize generators?

Generator synchronization is normally handled by the approved genset control and protection system. The hybrid layer can supervise status and coordinate solar and plant operation around it.

What happens when one generator trips?

The defined response may include rapid PV limitation, alarms and load actions. Exact behavior must be engineered from plant dynamics and fail-safe requirements.

Can existing Deep Sea or DEIF controllers be integrated?

Often yes when the exact model provides suitable communications and documented registers. Compatibility must be verified model by model.
